Nothing will ever rid me of the memory of sitting in my gown, with my head in my hands and tears running down my face, while all of my friends danced with their fathers on the night of their graduation. Nothing.

You had your heart broken. It hurt like hell and it crippled you. You don’t understand why. Why it happened, why you didn’t see it coming, but most of all why it hurts so much more than any other time before it.

It’s because this time was different. He said all the right things, at all the right times. He made you feel safe in his arms. He made you feel like you were worth something more. He stole your breath when he kissed you. He kept you warm when you were cold. Then, without warning he was gone.

All you want is an explanation. All you want is to feel the way you felt before. However you realize that life doesn’t always work that way.

After being sad. After staying in all day wrapped up in his old sweatshirt. After crying yourself to sleep. After it all, you understand that sometimes all you can do is pick yourself up and accept that he’s just a boy.

You’ll one day find a boy who kisses you deeper, keeps you warmer, and holds you tighter.
